What EN 81-20 requires at this location
- A bridging device must be provided in the controller or at the test panel for maintenance of the shaft door, car door and door-locking contacts.
- Travelling with bridged door contacts requires an audible signal at the car and a flashing light beneath the car.
- Mode selector switches must be clearly marked NORMAL and INSPECTION.

Car roof
The inspection control station fitters use to move the car from the roof. It must be reachable from the refuge space, protected against unintentional operation, and carry the STOP device close to the access point.
Pit
The permanently installed control station at the bottom of the shaft. It must be operable from the refuge space and, alongside the STOP device and socket outlet, must also provide the well lighting switch within reach of the access point.
