Maintenance boxes for the car roof
The inspection control station fitters use to move the car from the roof. It must be reachable from the refuge space, protected against unintentional operation, and carry the STOP device close to the access point.

What EN 81-20 requires at this location
- The inspection control station must be operable from the refuge space at a horizontal distance of no more than 0.30 m.
- The STOP device is easily reachable and no more than 1 m from the access point for maintenance personnel.
- A socket outlet is part of the equipment on the car roof.
- The UP and DOWN direction pushbuttons, the RUN button and the bistable inspection switch are protected against unintentional operation.

The permanently installed control station at the bottom of the shaft. It must be operable from the refuge space and, alongside the STOP device and socket outlet, must also provide the well lighting switch within reach of the access point.
